THE BONEY LADY
This hauntingly beautiful spectre is particularly fond of frightening children and those who dare enter a cemetery after dark. She appears at dusk as a mysterious woman in black, drifting quietly through the lonely graves. You may notice that she visits not a particular grave, but takes a moment to visit all.
This being is an “ankou” or graveyard guardian; the first to be buried on the grounds and keeper of company to those who’s loved ones never visit. If you tempt her she will utter in a deep, mournful tone, “Someone has walked over my grave”, as she reveals her skeleton which glows from within. It is believed that she’s never harmed a soul, but if she catches you you’ll be her warmth and company for the night in the cold, dank grave.
